Here's what Jim Cramer had to say about some of the stocks that callers offered up during the "Mad Money Lightning Round" Friday evening:
Abbott (ABT): "It's just a great company. ... It's got great drugs and great diagnostics. ... You know I like diagnostics for the show cause I talk about them all the time."
Infinera (INFN) "I don't want to be in this, another digital optical play."
Southern Copper (PCU): Listen, chief ... why not be in FCX (
Freeport McMoRan (FCX)? ... It's got gold, it's got copper. ... When the BHP (
BHP Billiton (BHP) ... smoke clears, BuyBuyBuy." Cramer owns Freeport McMoRan for
Action Alerts PLUS.
Nordstrom (JWN): "I saw
Tiffany (TIF) was down ... everyone keeps saying the high end's bad. ... If the high end's bad, how come
Costco (COST) had a great quarter? ... I would buy JWN."
E*Trade (ETFC): "I think if you're Ken Griffin and you're in Citadel, you're buying it ... everyone else is gonna get hurt. ... It was a disaster. ... The fact that I ever at any time thought positively about it was just wrong, and I just think E*Trade is a loser. Period. End of story."
Anthracite Capital (AHR): "That's a residential REIT. ... just buy NLY (
Annaly (NLY) ... I'm sorry I can't be more positive."
Anadarko (APC): "We like Anadarko. I like
Apache (APA). ... My favorite remains ...
XTO (XTO). ... These are just great well-run oil and gas plays, and I'd recommend them to anyone."
American Standard (ASD): "I've been doing a lot of work on it ... I was going to recommend it tonight. ... They've done the restructuring. ... This thing can't stay independent -- it's too good a business."
Northern Trust (NTRS): I'm gonna give ya a two-fer. ... Northern trust and
State Street (STT), the two best-run financial institutions in the country. ... The bears put out negative stories about [them]. ... Go read their presentations. This was a travesty. ... I want to recommend Northern Trust up here, and I want to recommend State Street, even up here."
*For all you home-gamers, a 'mon-back opportunity means Cramer would back up the figurative truck and load up on a stock.
