Metals Prices Mixed

Energy prices were on the decline Monday in New York, while metals were mixed.

Crude oil was dropping 88 cents at $62.75 a barrel, and natural gas was down 24 cents at $7.56 per million British thermal units.

Heating oil gave back 3 cents to $1.87 a gallon, and gasoline was lower by 3 cents at $2.15 a gallon.

Gold was down 90 cents at $689 an ounce, and silver was losing 12 cents to $13.98 an ounce. Copper was better by 2 cents at $3.56 a pound. July platinum was up $4.10 to $1,290.50 an ounce.

Cocoa and frozen concentrated orange juice were stronger, but coffee, cotton and sugar were falling. In Chicago, corn, soybeans, wheat and ethanol were all trading lower.

The CRB Index was off 3 points at 314.70.
