World Stocks Mostly Lower

World stocks were mostly lower Wednesday, with China and the U.K. the lone major markets staying in the black.

In Asia, Tokyo's Nikkei dropped 110 to 17,255, while Hong Kong's Hang Seng slipped 153 to 19,554 and Mumbai's Sensex gave up 240 to 12,884.

Shanghai's Composite rose 34 to 3173, though.

In Europe, Frankfurt's Dax was off 29 points to 6829 and Paris' Cac was down 14 to 5573. But London's FTSE was up 3 to 6295.

In New York, stock futures were predicting a down open a day after the Dow Jones Industrial Average shed 71 to 12,397.
