Shares of Novatel Wireless(NVTL) were among technology's winners Monday, rising 10% after the company boosted its first-quarter outlook.

The maker of wireless-access cards now sees adjusted earnings of 35 cents a share, up from a prior forecast of 16 cents. Novatel projects revenue of more than $100 million, compared with its previous guidance of $80 million. Analysts polled by Thomson First Call project earnings of 10 cents a share and revenue of $80.7 million. Shares were trading up $1.50 to $16.68.

Alcatel-Lucent(ALU) climbed 3% after the telecom-equipment giant signed a $6 billion with Verizon Wireless. The three-year deal calls for Alcatel-Lucent to supply Verizon Wireless with an array of network equipment, software, and services. Shares of Alcatel-Lucent were trading up 39 cents to $11.92.

CryptoLogic(CRYP) rose 3% after the software company extended its licensing agreement with Marvel Entertainment(MVL). The deal means that CrytoLogic will remain Marvel's sole developer of Marvel-branded Internet casino games through 2010. Shares were climbing 66 cents to $25.56.

Shares of Agere Systems(AGR) fell 3% after the chipmaker cut its second-quarter revenue forecast. The company now sees a 12% sequential decline in revenue for the period, which ends this week. Previously, Agere projected that revenue would be flat with the $372 million it posted in the December quarter. Wall Street projected revenue of $369 million. Shares of Agere were trading down 73 cents to $21.41. LSI Logic (LSI), which is set to acquire Agere, fell 28 cents, or 2.7%, to $9.99.

Other technology movers included Sun Microsystems(SUNW), up 4 cents to $6.23; CMGI(CMGI), up 8 cents to $2.28; Dell(DELL), up 60 cents to $23.43; Intel(INTC), down 9 cents to $19.18; Cisco Systems(CSCO), down 10 cents to $26.09; Apple(AAPL), up 55 cents to $94.07; Microsoft(MSFT), down 27 cents to $27.75; and Oracle(ORCL), up 4 cents to $18.28.
