Indian Stocks Close Higher

MUMBAI -- Indian stocks rose Thursday, as the Sensex gained 79.58 points, or 0.58%, to close at 13,696.31.

The gainers on the index were HDFC Bank(HDB Quote), which gained 2.87%, Wipro(WIT Quote), up 2.74%, Tata Consultancy Services up 2.36% and Dr. Reddy's Laboratories(RDY Quote), up 2.20%.

Among decliners were Ranbaxy Laboratories , which dropped 2%, Tata Steel, down 1.90%, and Hindalco, off 1.48%.
