Cisco (CSCO) says it will pay $43.7 million for closely-held Meetinghouse Data Communications, a network security-software shop.

The all-cash deal for the Portsmouth, N.H.-based tech outfit will help bolster the security features on Cisco's wireless and wireline networking products.

The company expects the deal to close by the end of October.

Cisco shares dropped a penny to $19.62 in post-close trading.
