The deal, first reported by The Wall Street Journal, is set to be announced this afternoon in Manhattan, and will see some HBO programming such as Curb Your Enthusiasm and The Sopranos made available to Cingular subscribers.

It comes on the heels of announcements from GE's (GE Quote - Cramer on GE - Stock Picks) NBC and Disney (DIS Quote - Cramer on DIS - Stock Picks), who are providing programming content to the Apple(AAPL Quote - Cramer on AAPL - Stock Picks) video iPod, and Viacom's (VIA Quote - Cramer on VIA - Stock Picks) CBS, which last week struck a content delivery deal with Cingular competitor Verizon Wireless.

The HBO-enhanced service from Cingular, the joint venture between AT&T (T Quote - Cramer on T - Stock Picks) and BellSouth (BLS Quote - Cramer on BLS - Stock Picks), will include ring tones, downloadable wallpaper and clips from other programming such as cartoons and sports.
