The insurance industry has been dealing with its own catastrophes in the past year -- from huge payouts after the Asian Tsunami to the attack on
AIG from hurricane Spitzer.
Despite all the tumult, British insuring giant
Lloyd's has seen its shares outperform the
S&P Insurance Index. And while the company may be best known for its long history in Britain, nearly 40% of Lloyd's business is derived from policies written in the U.S.
Julian James, Lloyd's director of worldwide markets, spoke with StreetWatch's Gregg Greenberg about Lloyd's U.S. business and about the company's plans both here as well as in China. Plus, James talks about Lloyd's preparation in advance of hurricane season -- and no, he's not talking about the regulatory kind.
