Federal Reserve Vice Chairman Don Kohn will deliver a speech on the economic outlook at 12:45 p.m. ET in Atlanta, a potentially important speech from one of the Fed's most important members.
Kohn was former Fed Chairman Alan Greenspan's main strategist throughout Greenspan's tenure, and Kohn continues to exert great influence at the Fed. Most recently, in September, Kohn led what became a cavalcade of Fed speakers whose mission was to make it clear that no interest rate cut was in the offing.
Kohn is a crafty Fed speaker who knows who to choose his words wisely in order to convey very specific messages about the direction and leaning of monetary policy, and his senior status makes him very influential on Wall Street. We should continue to look to continue for guidance on where the Fed stands.
