Why can't someone, someone in the government, someone at Fannie Mae (FNM - commentary - Trade Now) or Freddie Mac (FRE - commentary - Trade Now), just stand up and say, "We have to pay back the government out of earnings whatever we make from now until forever before anything can go to shareholders." Why can't someone just come out and say it?

Or are they going to pull one of those AIG (AIG - commentary - Trade Now) tricks and do a reverse split and make the stocks seem respectable?

How long can this charade go on?

These companies are basically in receivership. It is highly unlikely they will survive in this form. There are tons of other securities that were higher in the pecking order that were destroyed. If there is anything left it will go to them, not the common stock.

But they trade and trade and trade.

Where are the zebras? Where are the adults?

This is the kind of thing, like GM (GM - commentary - Trade Now), where it is simply a ludicrous situation perpetuated by management and the government.

I guess it will go on until the companies finally own up to the truth, but that looks like it isn't about to happen.

What a shame.

What a joke.

At the time of publication, Cramer had no positions in the stocks mentioned.

Doug Kass famously called the stock market bottom in March. Now he's calling a top. Do you agree?
