The Buyers Come in From the Cold

Here's the rub, writ large: Every single stock I key on, including several that have been absolute bow-wows, is now igniting. These are what I call lovey-blanket stocks, meaning that when you are bullish, they make you want to do some buying.

First, the two banks I like: Goldman Sachs (GS - commentary - Trade Now) and JP Morgan (JPM - commentary - Trade Now) seem like they are waking from their slumber. Some of that might be an interview I read on Bloomberg.com , where Dick Bove raves about the banks sector. Given that he most recently squawked negatively on Wells Fargo (WFC - commentary - Trade Now), he is now becoming a total prop of the bulls. I wonder if Meredith Whitney would take a victory bow and slap Goldman Sachs on to her buy list? Why not? She's up $15 from her sell recommendation.

Tech: Google's (GOOG - commentary - Trade Now) getting a lot of good play on its cellphone operating system, which is about to be rolled out on Verizon (VZ - commentary - Trade Now), even though I am not a huge fan. The Apple (AAPL - commentary - Trade Now) short over lackluster Chinese demand is being muted today by stories about massive gray-market sales -- non-carrier -- which will buoy the numbers.

Oil? Failed to go below the key $79 level and that's enough to ignite buying in the group. Maybe that great quarter from Marathon (MRO - commentary - Trade Now) is helping? Or maybe it is all the deal chatter I am hearing. Schlumberger (SLB - commentary - Trade Now), I guess, can go higher.

Whatever, the buyers are emerging from the woodwork and my favorite stocks are roaring. I'm losing my pretend-bearish bent by the moment.

At the time of publication, Cramer was long GS, JPM, MRO and WFC.

We need oil to stay above $79, and we need good news from tech and banks.
