When is the Street going to create more ethanol plays? I know that we are tired of continuing to go back to the ADM (ADM - commentary - Cramer's Take)/Pacific Ethanol (PEIX - commentary - Cramer's Take) well. I was thrilled to popularize The Andersons (ANDE - commentary - Cramer's Take) as a place to go.
I am struck by this because the press has been all over me about The Andersons' run and how "I" caused it. A word on the so-called "runs" that I cause: I pick stocks I believe are going to go higher to highlight. I took advantage of the lack of ethanol plays to talk about The Andersons. But this stock was going to go up with or without me. It simply had no sponsorship, which is why it couldn't rally. My show provided the sponsorship without the back end of commissions or underwriting fees. I believe that whenever you go for a sector that doesn't have enough merchandise, you can hit a home run. That's where this sector is now. You would think the greedy investment banks could string together a bunch of farmers and call it an ethanol play. Who knows? Sounds likely, though. At the time of publication, Cramer had no positions in the stocks mentioned.
