I would normally say, "What a solid showing." But you know what? That presumes these days have any consecutive pattern whatsoever. I am struck, again, by one of our new contributors, Rick Bensignor, and his analysis of an asset class that has become a crapshoot.
Now, I am thrilled that outfits like KeyCorp (KEY - commentary - Cramer's Take) and National City (NCC - commentary - Cramer's Take) showed a pulse. I believe that anything that takes off systemic risk makes me feel more certain. The notion that SunTrust (STI - commentary - Cramer's Take), which was pushed down week after week, can rally 7 instills some fear in shorts, who have been able to stifle every rally. In fact, this is the first rally that the shorts weren't able to snuff from the get-go. But we are in a world where we can still have high-quality industrials go down a couple on nothing, even as Ingersoll-Rand (IR - commentary - Cramer's Take) held in on a bad quarter, and have real estate investment trusts give up all of their gains from Friday and then some. I mean Vornado (VNO - commentary - Cramer's Take) isn't meant to go down 8 like that. So my judgment is reserved to see what the shorts do next after the shutout of the bank game. I am sure they will strike back tomorrow. At the time of publication, Cramer had no positions in stocks mentioned.
