How long can Apple (AAPL - commentary - Cramer's Take) go up on rumors of a 3G phone with video capabilities?

If history is any indication, quite a long time.

Apple's one of those stories where there is a story. The smartphone, fully loaded with Microsoft (MSFT - commentary - Cramer's Take) software and a camera that would be like iChat, is simply the best thing that could ever happen to cell phone users. I don't know how Nokia (NOK - commentary - Cramer's Take) or Samsung or Motorola (MOT - commentary - Cramer's Take) can answer it.

Remember the iPhone ramp? That encompassed about 50 straight points totally in advance of the release of the design.

I think this story is bigger. While you wait, you have a killer Mac number building and building as kids need Macs to talk to each other. It is, in many ways, a better story than the iPhone given that it is already available and already making a lot of money.

Here's a perfect analogy even as it seems pretty opaque: Apple is MasterCard (MA - commentary - Cramer's Take). Hear me out: Apple's the only tech story that has real momentum and can give you some genuine upside later in the year. MasterCard is the only financial story with legitimate upside, given the price increases it is able to sneak in and the worldwide endless march toward plastic from paper. They are both the only games in town for their respective sectors.

Enviable situations.

Oh, and here's the kicker: Neither of these companies will be affected by what the Fed does. So, if there is weakness off the so-called "wrong" Fed news, these are logical places to go, despite the ramps they have already experienced.
