Was Lennar (LEN - commentary - Cramer's Take) being gutsy? Prescient? Boastful? Wishful? I am talking about that guidance it delivered today, guidance that then morphed into a goal but still did gigantic damage to the shorts.
But now his company, along with many others, is feeling the brunt of the pain. Which is why I was so astonished by his goal. I believe it is too aggressive. I believe that he has left himself little room to maneuver. I am, in the end, a UPOD -- underpromise, overdeliver -- guy. I never want to see management make goals that it can miss. I don't mind seeing a stretch goal now and then, but if I am going to get behind a stock I have to minimize the possibility of disappointment. I sure hope Stuart can pull it off. But he has just made his stock, in my eyes, more of a sale than a buy, particularly after the bump we just got today. Random musings: Alert, alert, alert!
