Herb's a Hero, Yet Again

Six months ago, with Acxiom (ACXM:Nasdaq - news - commentary) flying high, we had an interesting duke-out between Art Samberg, a famous money manager, and Herb Greenberg, our RealMoney.com source for what's really happening at companies. With the stock in the 40s, Samberg pushed it aggressively in the Barron's Annual Roundtable. Meanwhile, Herb told you that this information management systems company was falling apart at the seams. It was rare that you got such a dichotomy and it was so hard that I wrote that it was too close to call and that you should get out of the stock.

I should have told you to short it. Herb was dead right. Acxiom has been crushed, just crushed, and with this morning's blow-up it stands literally three-quarters lower than where it stood when Herb gave you the warning. Remember how I use Herb. When he is really negative on something, it is worth it to sell. When he reiterates that negativity it is often good to short.

I bet Samberg, an early subscriber to the TheStreet.com, wishes that he read Herb before he spoke to the press. I know you would have if you bought it off of Samberg's recommendation.
