Commentary: Editor's Letter *New* Alerts! Please click here...
What's ahead in the coming weeks? We're emerging from the earnings season, a period of corporate reporting that did little to dispel the notion that things are pretty rough out there. The oft-discussed "visibility" did not emerge for most tech companies and a rebound in corporate profits for the second half is fast becoming more hope than anticipation. But the market bulls will not be easily swayed. The Federal Reserve's aggressive rate-cutting action, which columnist James J. Cramer forecast early this year, will bring the fed funds rate down to 3.5% and is bolstering confidence that the economy will rebound. While data remain inconsistent, signs that the slowdown has been arrested in certain areas are feeding the nascent optimism. We'll continue to track both the economy and the market in order to provide you with insights into what to do. One of our newest additions to RealMoney.com is Jim Cramer's portfolio. I encourage you to check it out to see where Cramer is deploying his resources as he tries to pick his spots in this volatile market. Also, on Monday Cramer will be appearing on CNBC's "Squawk Box" beginning at 8 a.m., and he'll make another appearance on Tuesday on CNBC's "Business Center" at 7:30 p.m. A couple of other recent additions I want to point out: For those looking for the sharpest portfolio tracker around, check out our new streaming portfolio tracker, powered by money.net. This real-time portfolio tracker provides you with the sharpest, up-to-the-second information on how you're doing. In this kind of market, it pays to stay on top of things. Also, we've added an information center for conference calls and earnings information. Finally, if you've got any questions, comments or concerns, feel free to email me at dave.kansas@thestreet.com or our customer support staff at members@thestreet.com. We'll make sure your issues get handled. In the meantime, get ready for an exciting week of investing. We'll be hustling for you.
