After hearing from ExxonMobil (XOM - commentary - Cramer's Take) and Occidental Pete (OXY - commentary - Cramer's Take), Chevron (CVX - commentary - Cramer's Take) will be the anchor company of energy-earnings week, as the company reports third-quarter 2008 results and conducts its conference call on Friday.

CVX is expected to earn $3.25 on revenue of $86.79 billion. In the year-ago quarter, CVX earned $1.97 on revenue of $55.17 billion. As with its peers, I expect CVX to better estimates on strong upstream results. Its results from the chemicals businesses will be weak and the downstream businesses could go either way. Another wildcard will be the impact of this year's brutal gulf hurricanes.
