Yahoo! Overture Extends United Online Pact
New Yahoo!(YHOO Quote) business unit Overture Services said Wednesday that it extended a sponsored search engine agreement with United Online(UNTD Quote), currently the dial-up Internet gold standard.
Under the agreement, users of United Online's NetZero, Juno and BlueLight Internet services can do keyword searches in the search box located on the NetZero, Juno and BlueLight Internet start pages. Yahoo! will also provide United Online with its own algorithmic Web search results Yahoo! investors have been jittery lately over conflicting reports about Microsoft's(MSFT Quote) intentions in the search-engine arena. A Microsoft technology executive suggested earlier in the week that the company eventually planned to bring its search capabilities in house, a comment that knocked down Yahoo!, whose Overture engine is currently widely distributed by the software maker.
