Tiger Woods' Sponsors Jumping Ship

Wood's endorsement deals with Nike, Gillette, Accenture, AT&T and American Express once amounted to $100 million a year, according to Forbes. But on Dec. 13, when Accenture became the first sponsor to officially sever ties with Woods, the company explained that "[Tiger] is no longer the right representative" for its advertising. (Check out the Tiger Woods Stock Index for other past and present sponsors.) By Dec. 14, Accenture had swept its New York office clean of all Woods posters, in what appeared to be an attempt to wipe him from its corporate memory. Electronic Arts, Nike and TLC Vision, for their part, are still supporting Woods. "Our relationship with Tiger Woods continues without change," Stephen Phillips, an outside spokesman for TLC, said in an e-mail to Bloomberg on Dec. 21. TLC Vision is currently seeking bankruptcy protection to restructure its debt, Bloomberg reports. Meanwhile, on Jan. 4, Electronic Arts announced that it was moving ahead with testing of its new online golf game, "Tiger Woods PGA Tour Online."
