Editor's Note: 10 Years After

Updated from Nov. 16

This week we commemorate TheStreet.com's 10-year anniversary. The site debuted in November 1996, making a bet on the dual phenomena of the Internet as a mass-market medium and the burgeoning bull market in stocks.

Needless to say, much has happened in the past 10 years. One glance at our homepage from December 1996 gives you a good idea of how far we've come.

Jim Cramer, who co-founded our company, kicked off the series Monday with a column about the company's mission and why we continue to thrive.

On Tuesday, we recalled TheStreet.com's award-winning stories, including Peter Eavis' groundbreaking coverage of Fannie Mae, for which he won a Gerald Loeb Award, the most prestigious prize in business journalism.

On Wednesday, we looked back at TheStreet.com's early years, 1996-2000, when the editorial content matched the company's marketing slogan: Insightful, Irreverent and Opinionated as Hell.

On Thursday, we examined the 2000-2002 period, which encompassed a brutal bear market for stocks, accounting scandals at Enron, WorldCom and Tyco (to name just three) and, of course, the terror attacks of Sept. 11, 2001. As such, we dubbed this entry in our 10-year anniversary package to reflect the times: Harsh Realities.

Friday's offering includes The Essential Cramer, an ambition attempt to ferret out the very best of Cramer's thousands of missives, from his first-ever column for TheStreet.com through his writings on the latest market issues.

The final installment of our series features our best articles from 2003 to the present, coverage that cemented TheStreet.com's reputation as a leading provider of financial commentary, analysis and news.

Thanks to you, our readers, for making this all possible and, as always, let's stay interactive.
