Sony Unveils New Products AT IFA
Big HDTV, Windows 8 Computers, Cameras Introduced In Berlin
By Gary Krakow
Another big consumer electronics show means it's major announcement time again.
The venue? IFA 2012 in Berlin. First up? Sony. And by the look of it, they've been very busy.
First, a big HDTV. What they call 4K. Much higher-def than we can get here. Size of the screen? 84-inches (diagonal). Can't begin to imagine what it will cost if and when it shows up here.
As for smartphones, there's the new Xperia T Android. 4.6-inch screen. 13 megapixel camera on the back (1080p capable). New V and J models too.
Speaking of cameras, Sony is proud of their new, mirror-less NEX-5R, 16 megapixel model which, among other things, can connect to the Web via Wi-fi.
There's also a tough, little, $199, 16MP guy called the Action Cam. Add $70 for Wi-fi on this camera too.
More? There were some new Windows 8 computers announced including a desktop model, an 11-inch, slide-out tablet.
Plus, some new wireless speakers (Bluetooth and NFC), futuristic-looking 3D glasses/headband and lots more.
Expect to hear a lot more as we get closer to the holiday shopping season.
