Microsoft Previews Windows 8 For ARM Processors

WOATo Include Applications From Office 15 Suite

More software news today from Redmond, Washington. Microsoft is slowly revealing some of the features that will be included the next, highly anticipated version of Windows 8.

In addition to updated versions for 32 and 64-bit (for Intel/AMD-based) systems there will also be a new version for devices which run on ARM-based processors – namely for portable systems such as tablets.

Windows on ARM (WOA) will include a new version of Microsoft's famous office suite software – Office 15. These new programs are supposedly tweaked to provide great usability on ARM-based touch-screen devices as well as power optimization.

Microsoft also revealed today that the new WOA suite will not be compatible with current x86-based desktop apps.

So far no word has been leaked about the actual hardware that WOA will be running on.

Expect full details from the big Microsoft announcement on February 29 at the Mobile World Congress convention in Barcelona, Spain.
