The Consumer Electronics Show (CES) is going on right now, and Corning has announced its newest version of Gorilla Glass, Gorilla Glass 2.
Gorilla Glass is used in devices such as smartphones, tablets, and laptops, and is Corning's main product launch at CES this year. It is 20% thinner than the original version, and will produce "brighter images and have greater touch sensitivity, James R. Steiner, Corning’s senior vice president and general manager said in the company press release.
Corning made sure to note that Gorilla Glass is already on more than 575 products, on 500 million units around the world. Corning expects Gorilla Glass to account for $700 million in sales, more than triple what it did in 2010.
