Apple Maps Not An Exact Replacement For Google Maps
Complaints About Lack Of Features In New iOS6 Software
By Gary Krakow
I got to see and touch the new iPhone 5 yesterday. I was surprised at just how thin and lightweight it is. Apple should be commended.
On the other hand, there are a lot of people who've actually played with the device who are reportedly not as pleased with Apple's new mapping system.
If you're not keeping track, Apple and Google are not really speaking anymore. They used to be friends. But recently a Google boss “resigned” from Apple's Board of Directors. Then, Apple decided to downplay their use of Google software.
Apple ditched the familiar YouTube app which had been iOS standard equipment. Google countered with an improved YouTube app you can download from the store.
Apple also removed Google Maps from their newly updated/released iOS6 software. Apple decided to use their own maps.
And despite of reports that Apple Maps are “faster” and “prettier” the switch might not have been a good idea. It seems iOS users no longer have the “Street View” or public transportation features they've gotten used to.

No response as of yet from Apple.
As for Google Maps, there is reportedly a workaround availble.
