Breaking: Jury Finds Samsung “Willfully” Infringed On iPhone Patents
By Gary Krakow
A California jury has rendered their decision in near-record time and Apple is a big winner in their fight against Samsung concerning patents for early iPhone models.
Apple has claimed that Samsung copied the look and feel of their smartphones
The jury decided that a large number of Samsung phones had “willfully” infringed on many of Apple's “valid” patents.
While not winning every decision – 20 pages worth – on every question about when it came to Samsung-designed Android phones and tablets they won enough to have the jury award them more than one billion dollars in damages.
$1,055,855,000 is more like the exact number the jurors decided Apple is due.
The San Jose-based (near Apple's Cupertino headquarters) jury also denied all of Samsung's counter claims concerning possible infringement of their patents.
Expect this verdict and award to be challenged in courts for the foreseeable future.
