Angry Birds IPO Coming In 2012?

Rovio “Getting Ready” For Offering After Monster Year

Ever wonder just how popular are those Angry Birds games really are? How about 648 million downloads popular.

According to Reuters, Rovio, the company behind those flying fiends, has just released their numbers for calendar year 2011.

With revenues of approximately $106-million, and pre-tax earnings of nearly $68-million Rovio had a very,, very good year.

And, the report says so good that Rovio might just be planning an IPO - possibly for later this year. The company's investor relations boss, Anders Lindberg, told Reuters that the company is “getting ready” for a stock market listing but gave few details.

For the record, Rovio's just-released numbers refer to their app downloads last year (Angry Birds, Angry Birds Rio, Angry Birds Seasons). They don't include the out-of-this-world success of the new Angry Birds Space released just a few weeks ago.

But, those profits do include 30 percent or so coming from licensing and merchandising.
