Is Amazon Working On A New, Smaller, Color E-Reader?
Rumors Describe Device With 6-Inch Screen
By Gary Krakow
According to China's Economic Daily News, the Massachusetts-based E Ink Corporation has received an order in the range of 3 million color e-reader modules - each month – from Amazon.com.
Shipments of the modules and production of the new devices is expected to begin next month.
Amazon's Kindle Fire and Barnes & Noble's Nook Tablet both utilize color using a different technology - LCD screens.
But, highly energy efficient color e-ink screens have begun to catch-on on with a number of other e-reader/tablet manufacturers.
There are also rumors that Amazon might be working on a new version of the Kindle Fire with a larger (8.9-inch?) screen for release later this year.
