FMC Tech (FTI) never should have been down. Never. It is an oil infrastructure play, another twice-blessed bull market stock like Jacobs Engineering (JEC) . It caught a huge $980 million contract this morning for West African exploration for Total (TOT) off Angola and it is igniting above where it was when it announced the so-called disappointing quarter. I simply don't get why the heck people sell off these infra stocks because of a missed quarter and how come people don't recognize the secular strength of oil and how it is a wind at the back of these stocks. And when I say "these stocks," I am talking about Core Labs (CLB) , Oceaneering International (OII) and FMC. These stocks, with oil at $99, are the closest things to momentum stocks that are about to launch right here. I think they need to be bought before the analysts who sponsor these stocks -- all of which were taken down by the FMC miss -- get back on their horses. By the way, the same thing happened to Foster Wheeler (FWLT) each time it had a lumpy quarter. Take a look at that stock today.
