Before rejoining TheStreet.com in October 2000, Gillin spent four months creating and launching IssuePaper.com, a Web site devoted to twentysomethings and politics. He covered the Democratic and Republican national conventions, drove cross country and interviewed Hunter S. Thompson. Prior to that, Gillin worked for TheStreet.com, starting as an editorial assistant in July 1999 before becoming a staff writer, covering the after-hours trading markets in TheStreet.com's The Night Watch.

Gillin's freelance pieces have appeared in Maxim, the New York Daily News, GreenMagazine.com, Ironminds.com, TheSource.com and many other publications.

Gillin received a bachelor's degree in political science and magazine journalism from Syracuse University in May 1999.
