David Tong came to TheStreet.com in October 2007 from the San Francisco Chronicle where he was an assistant business editor for nine years. Prior to that, he was the business editor for the Alameda Newspaper Group and Oakland Tribune. He also worked as a reporter for the Oakland Tribune and Honolulu Advertiser. He was a Peace Corps volunteer in Malaysia and Nigeria. He has a master’s degree in Asian Studies from the University of Hawaii and a bachelor's degree in political science from Macalester College.
