Melissa Gannon is vice president of insurance and bank ratings for TheStreet.com Ratings Inc., formerly Weiss Ratings, where she directs the operations of the company's insurance and bank ratings division. Gannon joined the company in 1991 as a financial analyst in the bank rating division and subsequently expanded into insurance company ratings as well. In 1994, she developed a methodology for rating health maintenance organizations. Previously, Gannon served as a financial analyst with a number of banks and receiverships in the South Florida area and was involved in the management of foreclosed real estate. She has published articles in Boston Business, Economic Agenda and Managed Medicare and Medicaid and has been quoted in numerous publications nationwide. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Finance from the University of Dayton and a Master in Business Administration from Florida Atlantic University.
