Joan E. Lappin, CFA, is chairman and chief investment officer of Gramercy Capital Management Corp., a registered investment advisor based in New York City, which she founded in 1986. After 15 years as an investment analyst primarily focusing on the media and leisure sectors, Lappin began managing investment portfolios at Manufacturers Hanover Trust. A Chartered Financial Analyst, Lappin received a B.A. from the University of Wisconsin, Madison, where she was awarded a Ford Foundation Fellowship. She also holds an M.B.A. in Financial Accounting from the New York University Graduate School of Business Administration (now called the Stern School). Lappin has been a guest lecturer at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, at NYU and at the University of Wisconsin School of Business.
