Early Movers: Pump Up the Volume

NEW YORK (TheStreet) -- Several small-cap stocks were poised to move on above-average volume during Tuesday's session.

Novavax (NVAX Quote) jumped by 27 cents, or 7.2%, to $4.02 in the premarket session after the company said it has initiated a two-stage clinical study of its virus-like-particle (VLP) H1N1 flu vaccine in Mexico. The three-month average daily volume for Novavax is 8.2 million shares, according to Yahoo! Finance.

BioSante Pharmaceuticals (BPAX Quote) surged by 21 cents, or 10.7%, to $2.18 in the premarket session after the company announced positive safety data in its ongoing LibiGel Phase III cardiovascular and breast cancer safety clinical development program. BioSante said the LibiGel Phase III development program will continue as planned, and it is targeting submission to the FDA of a new drug application by mid-2011. The three-month average daily volume for BioSante is 515,000, according to Yahoo! Finance.

Cirrus Logic (CRUS Quote) rose by 29 cents, or 5%, to $6.15 in the premarket session after the company reported fiscal second-quarter adjusted earnings of 11 cents a share, a penny better than the Thomson Reuters average estimate. Cirrus also offered better-than-expected revenue guidance for the third quarter, saying it expects $58 million to $62 million in revenue during the quarter, compared to the consensus target of $54 million. The three-month average daily volume for Cirrus is 726,000, according to Yahoo! Finance.

Raser Technologies (RZ Quote) climbed by 5 cents, or 3.4%, to $1.54 in the premarket session after the company said it has entered into a transaction with three of its line of credit lenders to facilitate Raser's repayment of their loan principal and accrued interest totaling $5.4 million. Raser's offering to the lenders includes 3.2 million shares of common stock priced at $1.68 a share, a 12% premium to Monday's closing price of $1.49. The three-month average daily volume for Raser is 972,000, according to Yahoo! Finance.
