World Stocks Bounce Back

World stock markets followed Wall Street's lead Thursday and rebounded from steep selloffs Wednesday.

In Asia, Japan's Nikkei rose 183 points to 16,860, Hong Kong's Hang Seng rose 133 to 18,969 and Bombay's Sensex rose 14 to 12,544.

In Europe, the U.K. FTSE rose 94 to 6094, the German Dax rose 109 to 6557 and the French Cac rose 37 to 5365.

In New York, stock futures were pointing to an up open a day after the Dow Jones Industrial Average plunged below 12,000 at midday before ending 57 points higher at 12,152.
