Equities Climb in Europe
Stocks were by and large stronger in Europe Monday, with only a few pockets of weakness in places like Switzerland, Poland and Denmark.
London's FTSE 100 gained 0.5% to 6435, and Frankfurt's Xetra DAX rose half a percent to 7028. The Paris Cac 40 climbed 0.8% to 5763, and Milan's MIB 30 was up 0.9% at 42,821. On the downside, the Swiss Market Index gave up 0.4% to 9223, and in Denmark the OMX Copenhagen 20 fell nearly 1% to 473.85. Turning to Asia, Tokyo's Nikkei 225 was up 0.2% at 18,215. Hong Kong's Hang Seng sold off, falling 1% to 20,508. Equities rose in mainland China, and Taiwan's Taiex jumped 1.2% to 7900. Singapore's Straits Times Index edged down 0.1% to 3308, and India's BSE Sensex added 0.1% to 13,650. As for Latin America, Mexico's Bolsa tumbled 1.6% to 28,054, while Brazil's Bovespa tacked on 0.4% to 46,190.- Loading Comments...
