Asia's Markets Lose Ground

Stocks were mixed across Europe, falling in the U.K. and parts of Scandinavia but rising in Germany.

London's FTSE 100 was down 0.6% at 6203, while Frankfurt's Xetra DAX was fractionally higher at 6789. The Paris CAC 40 gave up 0.7% to 5608.

To the North, Norway's stocks rose, but Finland and Sweden were weaker. Denmark's OMX Copenhagen 20 was higher by 1.1%.

Croatia's Zagreb Crobex was again an upside leader, gaining 2.8% to 3763.

In Asia, Tokyo's Nikkei 225 fell 0.6% to 17,383, and Hong Kong's Hang Seng sank 1.7% at 20,106. China shares and South Korea's markets sold off.

Elsewhere, Australia's All Ordinaries Index shed 0.6% to 5758, and India's BSE Sensex tripped 0.9% to 14,091. The Karachi 100 in Pakistan climbed 1.5%.
