A U.S. gunship attacked suspected al Qaeda targets in Somalia, NBC News reported Monday.

NBC, quoting an unnamed senior Pentagon official, reported that the targets were two al Qaeda suspects responsible for bombings in Kenya and Tanzania in 1998 that killed 241 people, and for attacks in 2002 on Israeli tourists in Kenya.

The Air Force AC-130, operated by the Special Operations Command, flew the mission from its base in Djibouti, NBC reported. It was unconfirmed if the attack was successful.
