Markets to Close Tuesday

The Nasdaq Stock Market and the New York Stock Exchange will both close Tuesday in accordance with the country's national day of mourning for former President Gerald Ford, whose funeral service will be held that day.

Normal trading will resume Wednesday.

The stock markets have a tradition of closing to honor the death of a U.S. president. But it's rare for the markets to be closed for four straight days. However, that will occur this time, as the markets are closed on Monday for New Year's Day.

The last time the markets were closed for four straight days was in the wake of the Sept. 11 terror attacks.
