NEW YORK -- Apple (AAPL), the iPhone, iPad and iPod maker, is expected by analysts to post fiscal second-quarter earnings of $10.04 a share on revenue of $42.38 billion.
When Apple reported its fiscal first-quarter earnings, it gave revenue guidance of between $41 billion and $43 billion.
The key to Apple's earnings report will be guidance for the June quarter, as the tech giant gets ready to refresh its product lineup, with the oft-rumored iPhone 5S and new iPad and iPad mini tablets.TheStreet will be live-blogging Apple's earnings on Tuesday beginning at 3:45 p.m. EDT.
Netflix (NFLX), the online-entertainment company, posted earnings on Monday that beat Wall Street expectations. The Los Gatos, Calif.-based company earned 31 cents a share on revenue of $1.02 billion in revenue. Analysts were looking for earnings of 19 cents a share on sales of $1.02 billion. "Our U.S. streaming business achieved strong growth in Q1. We added over 2 million members to the service, launched to great reception our first Original series of 2013 House of Cards, and improved our streaming contribution margin above our 100 bps target," CEO Reed Hastings wrote in a letter to shareholders. The company had more than 36 million streaming subscribers at the end of the quarter, up 3.05 million from the previous quarter. Netflix Surges on Q1 Huge Earnings Beat
Chipmaker Texas Instruments (TXN) beat Wall Street's first-quarter forecasts. The Dallas-based company posted first-quarter revenue of $2.89 billion, down from $3.12 billion in the same period last year but above Wall Street's forecast of $2.85 billion. Texas Instruments earned 32 cents a share, up from 22 cents a share in the prior year's quarter. Analysts surveyed by Thomson Reuters were looking for earnings of 30 cents a share. The company also delivered robust guidance, projecting revenue between $2.93 billion and $3.17 billion and earnings between 37 cents a share and 45 cents a share. AT&T (AT&T), the largest telecommunications company in the U.S., is expected by analysts on Tuesday to post first-quarter earnings of 64 cents a share on revenue of $31.7 billion. In the year-earlier quarter, AT&T earned $3.6 billion, or 60 cents a share, on revenue of $31.8 billion.
Sprint Nextel (S) said Monday it formed a committee of independent directors to review a $25.5 billion buyout offer from Dish Network (DISH).
Delta Air Lines (DAL) is expected by Wall Street on Tuesday to post quarterly earnings of 6 cents a share on revenue of $8.51 billion.
DuPont (DD) is forecast to report first-quarter earnings of $1.52 a share on revenue of $10.41 billion.
