Dell(DELL) CEO Michael Dell has outlined his preliminary strategy for bringing back growth at the computer giant he founded: Make it simpler.
The Wall Street Journal's online version reported Friday that an email to Dell's worldwide staff calls for reaching more customers and making its own technology simpler for users. Dell also said the company has to streamline its management structure to speed up decision making, as well as considering business models beyond Dell's original trail-blazing direct-sales dynamic, the Journal said. "The Direct Model has been a revolution, but is not a religion," Dell says in the memo, according to the Journal. "We will continue to improve our business model, and go beyond it, to give our customers what they need." Dell also plans to will launch new Inspiron brand PC models in June and products for small and medium business customers later this summer. Shares of Dell were recently up 33 cents, or 1.3%, to $25.24.>To order reprints of this article, click here: ReprintsTheStreet Premium Services For Personal Service: 877-471-2967
