Kopin, Cardionet: Early Volume Plays

NEW YORK (TheStreet) -- Several small-cap stocks were poised to move on above-average volume during Monday's session

Art Technology Group (ARTG Quote) rose by 18 cents, or 4.4%, to $4.30 in the premarket session after the company filed for a $250 million mixed shelf offering. The three-month average daily volume for Art Technology is 1.3 million, according to Yahoo! Finance.

Kopin (KOPN Quote) jumped by 56 cents, or 12.6%, to $5 in the premarket session after the company reported third-quarter earnings of 13 cents a share, beating the single analyst estimate of 4 cents a share. Revenue climbed 4% from a year ago to $32 million, also better than the lone estimate. Kopin also offered full-year revenue guidance that was better than the single forecast. The three-month average daily volume for Kopin is 386,000, according to Yahoo! Finance.

Cardionet (BEAT Quote) fell by 41 cents, or 6.9%, to $5.50 in the premarket session after the company said it was disappointed that the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services hasn't established a national pricing reimbursement rate for mobile cardiovascular telemetry in the Medicare final rule for the physician fee schedule for 2010. Reimbursement for mobile cardiovascular telemetry will continue to be carrier priced by Highmark Medicare Services, the company said. The three-month average daily volume for Cardionet is 996,000, according to Yahoo! Finance.

AEterna Zentaris (AEZS Quote) rose by 8 cents, or 7.8%, to $1.10 in the premarket session after the company announced positive efficacy data from a Phase 2 study with its targeted cytotoxic peptide conjugate, AEZS-108, in patients with platinum-resistant and taxane-pretreated ovarian cancer.. The three-month average daily volume for AEterna Zentaris is 1.1 million, according to Yahoo! Finance.

BioForm Medical (BFRM Quote) added 18 cents, or 5%, to $3.80 in the premarket session after the company reported a smaller-than-expected loss of a penny a share, compared to estimates the company would lose 7 cents a share in the quarter. Revenue climbed 16.6% from a year ago to $18.3 million, also topping estimates. BioForm also offered a rosy outlook for full-year 2010. The three-month average daily volume for BioForm is 111,000, according to Yahoo! Finance.

Huntington Bancshares (HBAN Quote) gained 9 cents, or 2.4%, to $3.90 in the premarket session after the bank said it has chosen to continue its participation in the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp.'s Transaction Account Guarantee Program. The three-month average daily volume for Huntington is 26.7 million, according to Yahoo! Finance.
