McDonald's (MCD Quote) said global comparable sales rose 8.7% in May.
The Oak Brook, Ill., fast food chain said systemwide sales for McDonald's restaurants worldwide increased 11.9% for the month, 10% in constant currencies. "May marks another month of strong sustained sales and shows how well we are providing solutions for today's busy lifestyles, with the convenience and value that customers expect from McDonald's," said CEO Jim Skinner. "We've re-energized our worldwide business with new food choices, redesigned restaurants and relevant marketing." U.S. same-store sales rose 7.4% in May.
